Recipe: ‘Frozen’ Summer Sipper
A tasty drink to remind you of the sunny days “In Summer.”
No matter the time of year, Olaf is always dreaming about summer. If you are, too, this fruity mocktail is the perfect recipe to remind you of having a drink in your hand, as you’re lying against the burning sand in summer.
The Olaf-approved Summer Sipper comes from the new Disney Frozen: The Official Cookbook: A Culinary Journey through Arendelle, which is available starting on October 29. In addition to this drink, the new cookbook features dozens of recipes inspired by Frozen and Frozen 2 — including Coronation Day Shrimp Canapés, “We Finish Each Other's Sandwiches” Chicken Salad on Rye Bread, and Fixer-Upper Carrot.
The recipe is made with orange juice, fresh strawberries, alcohol-free bitters, and sparkling water to make it kid-friendly. However, if you want to make it a true cocktail, you can replace the sparkling water with prosecco or champagne — and use regular bitters.
Summer Sipper
Yields 1 serving
Ingredients:
4 medium strawberries, as ripe as can be
1 ounce freshly squeezed or best-quality orange juice
3 dashes alcohol-free bitters
2 dashes alcohol-free orange bitters
1½ ounces sparkling water
Twist of orange peel, for garnish
Instructions:
Muddle 3 strawberries in the bottom of a glass, pour in the orange juice, then add the bitters and stir. Fill a tall double old-fashioned glass with ice and strain the juice into it. (This will take some patience and effort, as the muddled strawberries may clog the strainer.) Top with sparkling water. Garnish with the remaining strawberry and an orange twist.
