Updated: Nov 15, 2023

The third episode of season two ended with Miss Minutes teasing a secret between Renslayer and He Who Remains. So what was it?

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 2, episode 4 of Loki, “Heart of the TVA.”

The episode begins with Renslayer and Miss Minutes at the end of time. Miss Minutes says that Renslayer needs to see this and pulls up a video in a mirror. It’s the message that Loki hears in the interrogation room when he is time slipping.

Renslayer learns that she led the army that established the TVA with He Who Remains in a “utopia,” at the end of time. He then wiped all their memories which is why she didn’t remember.

Miss Minutes suggests that maybe they never needed him at all before the screen fades to black.

Victor Timely poofs into the TVA and marvels at its existence. He runs into B-15, Loki, Sylvie and Mobius. They beg him to trust them, and Loki says he is the only one who can help them save the TVA. They go to see Casey and OB, and OB and Victor fanboy at each other before getting to work on the device that can fix the Time Loom.

Renslayer and Miss Minutes step through a time door and into the jail cell where General Dox and the loyalists are being held. They offer them an intriguing proposition: help them restore the TVA, and everyone will get a spot on the Sacred Timeline. When no one but Brad volunteers, Miss Minutes squishes them in a tiny box.

Meanwhile, Victor gets intrigued by a hot cocoa machine. He goes to get himself a cup and is taken by Brad.

Loki, Sylvie, Mobius, OB and B-15 meet up and share their discoveries: Victor was taken, Dox and her crew are dead, Miss Minutes is back and the TemPads aren’t working. They split up to look for Renslayer, who is interrogating Victor on how to use the device they’re making.

Sylvie gets trapped in an elevator on the way to rescue Victor, and meets up with Loki in the scene we already saw earlier in the season when he was time jumping; She pulls the doors apart, and he is pruned from behind. We realize it’s present day Loki that does it. OB calls them from the phone in the corner and asks what is taking so long, and they say that Miss Minutes is sabotaging them. So, OB takes her offline which also happens to dismantle the safety protocol that blocks magic in the TVA.

Back in the interrogation room, Miss Minutes starts glitching as she goes offline, and then so does the power. Wielding a pruning stick like a lightsaber, Brad goes on the defense. Loki and Sylvie are waiting for him, and she enchants him to prune Renslayer. Loki and Sylvie grab Victor and rush downstairs.

Victor scans his temporal aura which unlocks the room with the view of the Time Loom. He also volunteers to do the time walk to fix the device in case something goes wrong. He says “time to be brave,” and steps out. He’s immediately turned into spaghetti shreds by the radiation. A bright light surges from the Time Loom à là Oppenheimer and the screen fades to black.

Will the TVA cease to exist as we know it? I guess we’ll have to stay tuned for episode 5!
