Recipe: ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ Charcuterie Board
Try this themed charcuterie board for your next party!
If you have a Halloween or Christmas party coming up, you’ve got to put together a Nightmare Before Christmas charcuterie board! It’s the perfect grazing dish or appetizer to start your party off right — and it’s very easy to do!
Nightmare Before Christmas Charcuterie Board
Yields 4-5 servings
Ingredients:
Circular brie with a white rind
Dark colored jam or jelly
Variety of artisanal cheeses
Variety of sliced meats
Variety of crackers
Variety of berries
Instructions:
Take your circular brie and start cutting into it to form Jack Skellington’s face. For the smile, draw a normal smile shape and then some vertical lines passing through it. The nose is two simple lines and the eyes are larger semi-circles. Make sure to carve out some space in the eyes so you have room to fill them with jam. You can do the same for the mouth if you want.
Fill the holes in the brie with a dark colored jam or jelly.
Place the brie in the center of the serving board.
Add sliced cheese, sliced meats, berries, and crackers to your board in whatever way you’d like.
Once your board is filled, serve, and enjoy!
Takeaways:
This was a very easy way to make a fun and themed charcuterie board that could work for either a Halloween or Christmas party. You can adjust the size depending on how many people you are serving. The face was relatively easy to carve into the brie using a knife and the rest is basically just putting together a normal charcuterie board! If you are not sure which cheeses to include in your board, I recommend looking for discount bins at your grocery store’s cheese section (usually by the deli). These bins get filled with small cuts of cheese that are usually priced around $5 or less. This way you can get a variety of cheeses without having to buy large amounts of any type.
If you want to get extra fancy, you can use dark colored items to build out the shape of Jack Skellington’s body in addition to the head. I did this using blackberries and some blue corn tortilla chips. You can even give him a Santa hat with a strawberry!
