Recipe: Violet Sake
The drink that blooms in the Japan Pavilion is the most rare and beautiful of them all.
Drinking around the world at Epcot in Walt Disney World is not complete without the acclaimed, Violet Sake. Available at the stand in between Teppan Edo and Katura, this drink tastes like a Jolly Rancher and is as good as it looks.
I knew that I needed to find an at-home recipe so I could make the drink myself. And it was surprisingly easier than I expected.

Violet Sake
Yields 1 serving
Cocktail Ingredients:
1 ½ ounces prickly pear syrup
2 ounces dry sake
½ ounce sweetened lime juice
2 ounces water
Lemon slice (for garnish)
Instructions:
In a cocktail shaker, combine the prickly pear syrup and water. Shake until well integrated.
Add in the sake and lime juice. Shake thoroughly.
Pour into a glass and adorn with a lemon slice.
Enjoy
Review:
Equal parts sweet and tangy, this drink is one of my absolute favorites. We made it several times over the week to tweak as we liked. We found that mixing the syrup with water makes it a little less viscous and syrupy.
Some recipes also call for 2 ½ ounces of syrup and/or 4 ounces of sake. This will be a lot stronger and/or a lot more sugary. So you may have to tweak the recipe to your liking.
But the version above is definitely one I will make when I’m missing World Showcase.
