Disney World’s 20 Most Insta-Worthy Picture Spots
Updated: Jan 19, 2022
From Cinderella’s castle to the Bubblegum Wall, here is your guide to all the Insta-worthy photo spots in Walt Disney World Resorts and Parks.
Pics or it didn’t happen, right? We all know taking pictures is a must when visiting WDW. I know I am guilty when it comes to finding the most aesthetically-pleasing spots, with the perfect outfit, paired with Minnie ears and a punny caption. But let’s be honest, who isn’t? Well, I am here today to help you find, not only the weenies (see below), but also the more hidden and trendy backdrops.
The Weenies
Backstory — After a long day of working on the development of Disneyland, Walt Disney would go home for dinner and sometimes grab a ‘weenie — hotdog’ out of the fridge and typically end up sharing with his dog, Lady. He noticed how she would always follow him around while he was holding it because she knew he would give her some. He took this term to his Imagineers to describe how there should be an icon that attracts guests’ attention and would also help them find their way. Thus, there is a weenie in every park: Cinderella's Castle, Spaceship Earth, the Chinese Theater and the Tree of Life.
1. Cinderella’s Castle — Magic Kingdom
Located at the heart of Magic Kingdom, a castle-pic is a must-have memory for the trip (even if they're painting the castle and there are large cranes in the background).
2. Spaceship Earth — Epcot
At the main entrance of Epcot, you’ll find Spaceship Earth (please don’t call it the golf ball. It’s a geodesic sphere). Hint: Wait until it’s dark and it glows purple, yellow and orange for the perfect nighttime-photo.
3. Tree of Life — Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom has numerous scenic-spots for your photos but be sure to stop and take a photo with this 145-foot sculpture of a baobab tree. Too crowded? Head on over to the opposite side of the tree for a just as adventurous picture with less people.
4. Chinese Theater — Hollywood Studios
This weenie is controversial because it may not seem like the main icon of Hollywood Studios. HS has had a bit of an identity crisis when it comes to its weenie. Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat used to be placed right in front from 2001-2015 and was a temporary weenie, some may say. But now that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway’s neon sign is up, it is the must-stop-spot for a photo (after you ride it of course).
Photo Walls
Disney World Photo Walls have been the recent trend and it all started with the #purplewall.
5. Purple Wall — Magic Kingdom
The photo wall that started it all. This purple wall is located next to Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland.
6. The Bubblegum Wall — Epcot
This wall, that even has a pair of ears, can be found outside of Spaceship Earth in Epcot.
7. The Candy Stripe Wall — Magic Kingdom
The sweetest wall of all; located in the Magic Kingdom, this wall can be found inside the Confectionary on Main Street. Don’t forget to have your favorite treat in hand! My personal favorite has to be the raspberry white chocolate chip cookie! Yum!
8. The Blueberry Wall — Epcot
This wall goes hand-in-hand with the Bubblegum Wall, as it can also be found by the exit of Spaceship Earth.
9. Walls of Harambe — Animal Kingdom
These organic-looking walls can be found in Animal Kingdom as part of the African Safari. The most popular wall is the “you are most beautiful” wall!
10. The Toothpaste Wall — Epcot
Take a trip under the sea and visit the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion to find this photo-op!
11. The Popsicle Stick Wall — Hollywood Studios
Take a ride on Toy Story’s Midway Mania to visit this awesome photo spot! Located in the exit, you will find the popsicle wall, along with the checkerboard wall and various other life-sized toys!
12. Lion King Photo Wall — Animal Kingdom
If you’re feeling adventurous, head over to Animal Kingdom to find this beautiful view of a safari. Bonus: if you have three friends with you, you can imitate the animals and look like total dorks together.
13. Cinderella’s Mosaic Murals — Magic Kingdom
These murals tell the classic story of Cinderella and make any girl feel like a princess.
Attractions
Hold on tight, we’re starting to have some fun! No seriously, please hold on to your phone.
14. Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups — Magic Kingdom
You’re late! You’re late! For a very important photo date! Try not to get dizzy while getting this awesome photo session in!
15. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel — Magic Kingdom
You’ll feel royal in the warm light with this classic photo-op, or silly and child-like but what else is Disney for?
16. Smugglers Run — Hollywood Studios
What could possibly be cooler than a photo of you in the Millennium Falcon? Answer: nothing… but a picture outside of it will also do.
17. Dumbo the Flying Elephant — Magic Kingdom
Don’t just fly, soar! Head over to Storybook Circus to get a picture with Dumbo!
Resorts
My favorite way to start off our Disney vacation is by resort-hopping! Take the monorail and visit the Magic Kingdom resorts and end the night by watching Happily Ever After from the sandy shore of the Polynesian with some pineapple Dole!
18. Neon Mickey Wall — Contemporary Resort
This awesome neon mickey wall is located inside the Contemporary Resort.
19. Blue Polka Dot Wall — Pop Century
This hidden gem can be found outside of the Pop Century Resort! While you’re there, try time traveling back to some flower power days in the ‘70s for more awesome backdrops!
20. The Grand Floridian
Let’s be honest. You can take a picture anywhere in or outside of the Grand and have a classy picture.
