Drink Recipe: Oga’s Cantina’s Yub Nub
Updated: May 23
Make your favorite Cantina cocktails at home!
I may know nothing about Star Wars, but I do know alcohol. During my last Disney trip, I visited Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge. While I didn’t have the same experience as my friends freaking out about the design and ambiance, I really enjoyed the drinks.
The Cantina offers a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including the fan-favorite Yub Nub because it is served in a souvenir Endor mug that you can purchase after you finish the drink. The Yub Nub is named after the song “Ewok Celebration,” aka Yub Nub, which is featured in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and contains coconut rum and spiced rum. For this review, I used a variation of recipes from Simply Inspired Meals and 2 Geeks Who Eat.
Yub Nub
Recipe makes one cocktail
Ingredients:
1 shot Malibu pineapple rum
1 shot Captain Morgan spiced rum
1 tablespoon passion fruit syrup
½ cup orange pineapple juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a glass with ice.
Takeaway:
I wasn’t able to find passion fruit syrup anywhere, so I substituted it with guava juice. It felt like an okay substitution since both of them are tropical. Additionally, I didn’t have pineapple juice on hand so I only used orange juice. All in all, those substitutions didn’t make a big difference for me. However, the one problem I had with this drink was the spiced rum. All of the other ingredients are fruity and tropical, and the spiced rum doesn’t taste like it belongs. I would recommend removing it from your recipe because it will make your drink more summery and delicious. If you still want the alcohol kick, add an extra shot of pineapple rum. I would make this recipe again, just without Captain Morgan.
